Something not working?

Questions, a bug, or something that just doesn’t feel right: every message is read by the person who made the app. You’ll usually hear back within a day or two.

It opens your mail app with “Truth support” in the subject line.

Still on Truth 2.0? Its chat is paused for maintenance. Update Truth to bring it back, or write here in the meantime.

Do I need a connection to read?

No. The King James text lives on your device, along with Matthew Henry’s commentary, the cross-references, Easton’s dictionary, Nave’s topical Bible, the people and places, and Spurgeon’s Morning & Evening. Open the app with no signal at all and all of that still works, and so do word and reference searches.

Audio streams, a new translation downloads once, and sync, if you turn it on, needs a connection to carry your library across.

Which translations work offline?

All of them, once they are on your device. The King James Version is built in and always there. The other 26 editions, among them the ASV, the Berean Standard Bible, the World English Bible, Young’s Literal, the Geneva Bible, Douay–Rheims, German editions such as Luther 1912 and Schlachter 1951, and the Hebrew and Greek source texts, download once, the first time you choose them, and then read offline for good.

Where does the audio come from?

The recordings are from Bible Brain, provided by Faith Comes By Hearing, and they are streamed rather than stored: a public-domain text doesn’t make a public-domain recording. Full credits are in the app under Content & Licensing.

Are my notes and highlights private?

Yes. There is no sign-in, no ads and no tracking, and what you write stays on your device. It only leaves if you turn on sync yourself, Keep or iCloud, to carry it to your other devices, and you can erase that copy whenever you like. The privacy policy spells out exactly what does and doesn’t leave your phone.

I’m changing phones. Will my notes come with me?

With Keep or iCloud turned on, your library follows you to the new phone. Without sync, open You → Export & Backup before you switch and save a copy of your highlights, notes and reading history. An iPhone-to-iPhone transfer or an encrypted device backup will also carry the app’s data over.

Reporting a bug

The most useful reports are short and concrete. If you can, include:

  • What you expected, and what happened instead
  • The passage or screen it happened on
  • A screenshot, if there’s anything to see
  • Your device and iOS version, if you’re emailing rather than using the in-app chat

Something in the text looks wrong

Please tell me, and please be specific: the book, chapter and verse, and what you’re seeing versus what it should say. Errors in Scripture get fixed ahead of everything else on the list.

Ideas and requests

Send them. A good part of what’s in the app now started as somebody’s email, and knowing why you want something is usually more useful than the feature itself.
