Collected privacy policy

Collected helps you train and care for your dog. We built it to keep your information on your phone. We don't sell data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across apps or websites.

What stays on your phone

  • Your dog's profile and photo, your training sessions, notes and progress.
  • Everything in Care: health records, medicines, vaccines, vet details, weight, meals, walks and reminders.
  • Voice input. Speech is turned into text on your phone, and the microphone only listens while you hold the button.

None of this is sent to us. If you delete the app, it's gone.

What is sent when you ask Scout

Scout is the app's coach. Some answers are worked out on your phone and send nothing. When a question needs the online coach, the app sends:

  • your question;
  • your dog's first name, breed and age range (not the exact age), and where you are in the training plan;
  • a short summary of your training, worked out on your phone;
  • your own training notes, only if you turn on the switch that shares them (it's off by default).

Your health and care records are never sent. You can see exactly what is shared in the app, under What Scout knows, and you can turn online answers off there.

Questions go through our server to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude model that writes Scout's answers. Our server doesn't keep your questions or the answers. Anthropic handles them under its commercial terms, which don't allow it to train its models on them.

Fair-use limits

To stop abuse, our server counts questions per day. It doesn't store your IP address, install ID or purchase ID as they are. It stores a one-way scrambled code that changes every day, plus a count. These counts reset daily.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. When you ask Scout a question as a Collected Pro member, the app sends Apple's signed receipt so our server can confirm the subscription and allow the higher daily limit.

Children

Collected is meant for dog owners and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

  • Turn Scout's online answers off in What Scout knows. Training, Care and on-phone tips keep working.
  • Keep the notes-sharing switch off (the default).
  • Delete your data by deleting the app.

This website

These pages set no cookies and run no analytics or tracking. Like any website, they're delivered by a hosting provider (Cloudflare), and the typefaces come from Google Fonts; both see your IP address as part of sending you the page.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
